#IAmTorrid Blogger Event

Last month, myself and a dozen other plus size blogger were invited to Hot Topic HQ (home of Torrid HQ) where we met people from Torrid’s¬†corporate¬†team. The experience was amazing, Torrid’s buying team wanted our thoughts on the upcoming summer collection and our overall feel of Torrid’s style and where they could improve. We talked and they listened, along with sharing out thoughts about Torrid, myself and the other bloggers got to play dress up in the summer collection (see photos below, my favorite is the photo with the polka dot blazer) along with being in a video where we were asked about our first Torrid experience and what we were looking forward to this summer. I appear a couple times in the video, can you spot me? ūüėČ

I’ve been shopping at Torrid since high school and seeing their style evolve over the years has been just as fun as seeing my style evolve. ¬†It’s all an ever changing process where we all strive for a better version of ourselves.

What do you think of the photos and videos? Do you shop at Torrid?

Music Monday: 2013 Grammy Round-Up

Sunday was music’s biggest night as artists¬†from all generas gathered in one Los Angeles location for the 2013 Grammy’s. Although not all my favorite artists are Grammy winners or even nominees, it’s always fun seeing the winners, the fashion and some of my long time favorites like The Black Keys, Mumford & Sons and Jack White take the stage. I can’t imagen my life without music and I’m thankful for artists out there who are amazing at what they do and provide the soundtrack to my life.

Below were some of favorite looks from last night, who were your favorites?

Jennifer Lopez in Anthony Vaccarello. I love everything about her look. The dress is the definition of sexy, the shoes, the makeup, the hair; J.Lo is my girl.

Adele. There has been mixed reviews of Adele’s head-to-toe floral look, but I really liked it. I thought the cut was flattering and it was nice to her in a color other than black. The dress may not be a typical red carpet dress, but it’s very Adele and she looked amazing.

Oh Jack White, no one pulls off an all black suit like you do.

Katy Perry in Gucci. Amazing. The cut , color, length, this dress was pure perfection. By far my favorite Katy Perry look to date.

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel.

Rihanna in Alaia. I want this dress, SO bad. You go, Rihanna.

Beyonce in Osman. Effortlessly chic, she could have gone for a floor length gown or an amazing mini, but she did pants and aside from Janelle Monae, I don’t think any other person could have look this amazing.

Fashion’s Night Out: Los Angeles

Tomorrow is FASHION’S NIGHT OUT! How exciting!? Time is flying by, pretty soon I’ll be doing holiday gift guides, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself. This year #FNOLA seams to be bursting at its seams with so many events across Los Angeles. It’s hard choosing which events to attend!

This year,¬†courtesy¬†of Uber car service myself and 17 other Two Point Oh! LA bloggers will be will be driven¬†to a handful of FNOLA events! Thanks to Uber offering us this service we’ll be able to attend multiple event in LA without having to wait for a cab. Below are some of the places where you can spot us! Our first stop of the evening will be at the Neiman and Marcus on Wilshire. Follow my adventures on twitter (@JasmineDuarte) and I’ll be tweeting and instagraming for Los Angeles Fashion Council (LAFashCouncil).¬†

Now, what to wear?! Should I go with a ASOS leopard dress or a vintage purple dress? I’d love to hear¬†your¬†thoughts.

I LOVE weddings and this one had been my first in far to long. I mentioned last week I would be going on a San Diego getaway for a mini vaction and a wedding.

The love, romance and happiness that day is beautiful and heart warming. It was a pleasure seeing two close friends tie the knot and dance the night away with their friends and families. It was fun seeing friends I hadn’t seen in years, catching up and remembering old times.

Sent their guests away with a mix CD of their favorite love songs. What a great idea! Made a great listen for the drive back to LA.

Having fun with photo props. I had no idea what the sign said.

It was an amazing weekend and I hope the JP and Rachael enjoy their honeymoon!

Happy Independence Day!!

Even though America is less then 300 years old, we have a rich and empowering history. We are very prideful and although sometimes it can be a little¬†frustrating with¬†government¬†policies, it’s the people of the United States that makes this¬†country¬†amazing. Happy Birthday America! I hope you all have a safe and bright day!

Den.m Bar

Last weekend I had the privilege of visiting Den.m Bar in Downtown LA where they create and fit custom denim for their customers. The experience for customer starts when they walk into the bright space and choose the type of denim they want for their jeans. From there, they choose the cut and after that they chose the zippers, button and lining. When  Den.m Bar  says custom, they mean custom down to the T.

From start to finish it takes about two to three weeks for customers to get their pair of jeans. As far as pricing, they start at around $200 depending on the denim customer chooses. It was a fun experience and I hope to go back and get a pir of my own!

Summer Checklist List 2012

This weekend we celebrate Memorial Day, the unofficial start of summer. We’re about half way done with 2012 (crazy!) and between now and Labor Day I have a list of things I want to accomplish. I feel if I write them down it will help me be more determined to accomplish them before summer is over. As soon as summer is over,¬†autumn¬†is such a blur and then boom, it’s the holidays. I promise to not bring up the holidays again until October. Here is my 2012 Summer Checklist:

1. Start and finish MiddleSex. Which has been sitting in my library for three months.

2. Head up to the Bay Area to visit old friends (San Jose, San Francisco and Santa Cruz).

3. Do more DIY projects, like this, this and this.

4. Attend weekly bikram, aka hot yoga classes here.

5. Take a trip to somewhere in California that I haven’t been to a long time (I’m thinking San Diego).

6. Go to a comedy club

7. Attend a handful of Oscar Outdoors events. First one I’m attending is June 26 for Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

8. Host a ‘Around the World’ dinner party.

9. Take on baking. I love to cook, but baking is a realm I don’t go into often. Like the saying goes, “Cooking is an art, baking is a science.” Maybe this and this.

10. Go camping with friends. S’mores and all!

I want to know, what are your plans this summer?

Cynthia Vincent Sample Sale // Cynthia Vincent Venta de Muestras

One of my favorite American designers Cynthia Vincent is having a sample sale for her Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent line and needless to say I am beyond excited! I missed the last sample sale and was left jealous of my girlfriends amazing deals and I refuse to miss this one. The Twelfth Street line is youthful and whimsical. This spring the line combined tribal elements with elegance and glam, the perfect combination for any on-the-go city girls. The sample sale will be clothing, shoes and handbags from the spring 2012 collection. If the prices are anything like the last sample sale they are to die for and you will surely run out with a smile on your face and a tote filled with goodies!
