Lookbook Love: Torrid’s Holiday Collections

A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of going to Torrid’s headquarters in Los Angeles to preview their holiday collection. I wasn’t sure how they were going to show off the news items, but when I walked in and saw the glitter background and runway, I instantly became excited. There were more than 30 looks, each I can seeing fitting into every girl’s closet. Below are some of my favorite looks, I love all the leather accents and the lace details. The jewel tones were also fun to watch coming down the runway. Who says fall has to be drab and filled with no color?

Another trend I saw on the runway was combining different styles, for example, adding some sparkle to a grunge inspired outfit or adding some preppy accents to a rock and roll outfit. The coolest part of the fashion show? The models showing off the clothes were Torrid store employees! Real girls, modeling clothes for us curvy ladies, it was amazing.

Most if not all these items are in stores and online now! From updating your fall wardrobe, to holiday parties, to a date night, to just getting your knit sweater fix, there is something for every girl in Torrid’s holiday collection. If you’re torn and are deciding on that ONE item, my pick is the vinyl jacket, the peplum jacket, or that gorgeous red sweater.

Which would you choose? Which looks are your favorite? To see the rest of the photos, head here.

Lookbook Love: Living Doll Los Angeles {PLUS}

PlusSizeSummer-01 PlusSizeSummer-03 PlusSizeSummer-05 PlusSizeSummer-06 PlusSizeSummer-07-1

On Monday, Living Doll L.A. debuted their plus-size collection and launched the online store. The plus line is 26 pieces and although that may not seem like much, those 26 pieces are extremely versatile and cater to almost every plus-size girl. There’s something for the rocker, the girly-girl and sports team fanatic. A little bit for everyone.  More than 80% of Living Doll L.A. entire brand, plus and junior, is made in the U.S.A. and as it says on their website, “Every garment is designed and made with love!” I can sense the love, passionate and effort from the brand, to give plus-size girls fun, flirty, fashion-forward options and I LOVE it. The lookbook is gorgeous and there are plenty of items in the shop I can see myself wearing. Christi Raye, head designer for Living Doll L.A. says her vision for the plus line is for it to be a “Topshop for plus-sized girls,” now that’s something I can get use to. See what else she has to say in the video below and check out my favorite picks!

Lookbook Love: Robyn Lawley Swim

The name Robyn Lawley may ring a bell, as she was Ralph Lauren’s first plus-size model. In the beginning, there were many people huffing and puffing saying she wasn’t plus size enough, as she’s a size 12. Regardless if people think a size 12 isn’t  plus-size enough, it was a step in the right direction. Now, this curvy babe is launching her own swim line, and shoppers can pre-order the line on Madison Plus Select.

The line starts at a size 8 and goes to an 18, it may not be reaching the full plus-size spectrum, but in an interview with Refinery 29, Lawley explains her reason for only carrying six sizes. “For this first collection, I decided to start in a size range that 80% of women live between, and frighteningly, is also totally under catered for in fashion-forward swimwear,” said the former model to Refinery 29. If the line does well, Lawley says she will venture into more sizes. Although I wish the line did go beyond an 18, I love, love, love how sexy and sultry the collection is, I’m keeping my fingers crossed the line does well.

What do you think of Robyn Lawley swimwear collection?

Lookbook Love: IGIGI’s Into The Blue

IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel Into the Blue collection is not only breathtakingly beautiful, but is a little different than what avid IGIGI shopper may be use to, in a good way. This collection modeled by the gorgeous Clementine Desseaux and shot against the backdrop of San Francisco’s historic Cliff House.

One of the boldest IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel collections so far, Into the Blue is the fashion lover’s dream pushing it up a few notches. Print-blocked dresses take color blocking to the next level while the letta maxi plays with mesh and transparency, true wrap style and flutter sleeves, all in one dress. Playful combinations of lace and metallics provide for stylish and fun stand-out-from-the crowd summer nights.

Don’t you just love summer?

Lookbook Love: Zelie For She

WHO says plus size girls can’t wear bandeau tops?! Thank the heavens for Zelie For She because I have been looking for high and low for a plus size bandeau top and when I tell people I want one, they look at me like I’m crazy. I’m guessing people are surprised a chubby girl wants to wear a sexy beandeau? Well, you shouldn’t, because I, like like any girl, wants to wear what’s trending and flirty.

I’m loving everything in the Zelie For She Made with Love collection, from at sexy sheer sets to the pop art, Roy Lichtenstein inspired tee shirt. The best part? Her items are SUPER affordable. Does it get any better?

I know bandeau tops may not be for every girl, plus size or not, but if you got it, flaunt it and don’t ever let anyone tell you that you’re not allowed to wear something.

Lookbook Love: Marchez Vous Fall 2013

It’s been too long since I’ve done a Lookbook Love post and it’s a shame because there are so many designers who I love and want to share with you! A couple weeks ago I previewed the Marchez Vous fall 2013 collection and meet designer Yeardley Smith, who is an absolute sweetheart and beyond hilarious.

The overall design behind  Marchez Vous are shoes for the working woman. A pair of cute shoes and heels that don’t come with a day filled with pain. Smith told me that there was a lot of retro and classic inspiration behind her fall 2013 collection and as your scroll through the images, you can see the 1920’s and 1930’s inspiration. I’m a huge fan of the thicker, chunkier heel, I feel it gives me more support versus a stiletto where I feel at any moment it’s going to break under me.

Who ever said that a good pair of heels cannot be cute and fashionable was sadly mistaken. Marchez Vous’ fall collection is filled with heels that look amazing, but give enough support to strut around the world like it’s your runway.

Which style is your favorite? Find a location that sells Machez Vous in your area here.

YESI 2: If you’re looking to add something bold to your shoe collection, something like this would be a good start. The neon prints is just enough boldness to step out of your fashion comfort zone without feeling like all the attention is on your shoes.

AVA: A classic black pump with a pattern heel is the perfect way to dress up your office look or if you want your black heel to have a little more personality.

Spring Fling || Penelope’s Vintage

As if it hadn’t been clear in other posts, I love vintage clothing. Clothes, jewelry and shoes from the ’60s to the ’90s easily take up space in my closet.I admire anyone who has shares my same love for vintage and Chanelle, from The Penelope Times not only loves vintage, but she has an online store filled with treasures. Her store, Penelope’s Vintage.

It’s kind of a funny story of how Chanelle and I became friends. I spotted her at an event in Santa Monica and LOVED her vintage outfit and took her photo for a Street Style feature (here). The rest is history and the Spring Fling lookbook looks like a slumber party I wish I had been invited to, MASH playing and all.

Cinema Retro || IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel

Spring is merely a month and a half away and designers have started to release their Spring 2013 lookbooks.  IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel, one my favorite California based brands, is  transitioning into Spring with Cinema Retro; a collection rich in shapes and colors reminiscent of curvy screen beauties Sofia Loren, Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot. Inspired by the luscious and form-fitting styles of ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, designer Yuliya Raquel has created sensual silhouettes with a modern twist in retro prints, bright splashes of colors, and vivid hues. Cinema Retro includes fully lined dresses, separates, and bridal gowns with signature techniques to flatter the full-figured body.

“Cinema Retro is about glamour, sexiness, fierceness, sensuality and not
being afraid to express yourself as a confident chic woman. The collection
exhibits the classic IGIGI signature style of modern femininity with a vintage
vibe.” said Yuliya Raquel.

See here how I styled one of my IGIGI dresses. Which dress is your favorite from the Cinema Retro collection?
