{Style} Leather + Lace

As summer slowly comes to a close, I’m finding myself slipping into more fall inspired looks. Technically the first day of fall isn’t for a couple more weeks, but why not start airing out your fall clothes and adding a few new pieces. Adding new pieces to your wardrobe, no matter the season, is exciting, but can leave a dent in your wallet. This is why I always enjoy being introduced to affordable plus size brands. Pink Basis is an online shop that has standard sizes, plus size and accessories. They have a huge selection of killer heels, but plenty of boots and booties for fall. Pink Basis’ plus size section goes from 1x to 3x which roughly translate to 14/16 to 22/24. They have a good mix of items between party dresses to casual wear, even corsets and bedroom wear. Which kind of sums up my plans for the next few months. I have the one year anniversary with my boyfriend and a girls trip to Vegas! I highly suggest checking out the site especially during their amazing sale. Fashion doesn’t always have to cost an arm and a leg, it’s about finding what works for you.

{Style} All Floral Everything

I love a good floral print and they can be hard to come by, it’s true! Not all floral prints are created equal, so when I found this marigold floral maxi dress at Forever 21, I knew I had to have it. I love the natural waistline on this dress, it’s comfortable and flattering, but what surprised me the most about this marigold maxi dress was how much I loved the halter neckline. I’ve stayed away from halter necklines for a long, long time thinking they were’t flattering for plus size women, but I was proved wrong and I’m glad I was. I’ve worn this dress to work, date night and the farmers market, needless to say it’s super easy to take it from day to night.

Ladies, don’t forget, time and time again, don’t be afraid to try new styles! Wear what you want, own it and don’t limit your style options.

Lookbook Love: Torrid’s Holiday Collections

A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of going to Torrid’s headquarters in Los Angeles to preview their holiday collection. I wasn’t sure how they were going to show off the news items, but when I walked in and saw the glitter background and runway, I instantly became excited. There were more than 30 looks, each I can seeing fitting into every girl’s closet. Below are some of my favorite looks, I love all the leather accents and the lace details. The jewel tones were also fun to watch coming down the runway. Who says fall has to be drab and filled with no color?

Another trend I saw on the runway was combining different styles, for example, adding some sparkle to a grunge inspired outfit or adding some preppy accents to a rock and roll outfit. The coolest part of the fashion show? The models showing off the clothes were Torrid store employees! Real girls, modeling clothes for us curvy ladies, it was amazing.

Most if not all these items are in stores and online now! From updating your fall wardrobe, to holiday parties, to a date night, to just getting your knit sweater fix, there is something for every girl in Torrid’s holiday collection. If you’re torn and are deciding on that ONE item, my pick is the vinyl jacket, the peplum jacket, or that gorgeous red sweater.

Which would you choose? Which looks are your favorite? To see the rest of the photos, head here.

Leather, Lace and Everything Nice

Torrid-fashion-plus-size-fashionplus-size-trendy-outfits

Life is kicking my butt, in a good way. I have a few posts in my arsenal and I’m finally getting back into the swing of thing, so I tell myself. Thanks to Monique, from the amazing blog Curves and Chaos, I have a (kind of) new outfit post. I wore this look when I attended Torrid’s Holiday Preview. Myself and some of my favorite plus size bloggers were able to catch up and preview Torrid’s holiday collection. Some of the items are in stores now and the rest will be available middle of November. There’s a a bit of leather, lace and just the right amount of sequins, lookbook coming very soon!

I’m wearing a dress (from Torrid!) that I cut the slip, to show off the lace. I threw on a top and jacket with the dress for a layered fall look and added a wide brim hat. I’ve never been one to wear hats, but this one from H&M was calling my name, I had to have it. I stepped outside my fashion box and I like the outcome ;-).

How are you wearing your favorite fall styles? Any fun purchases yet for the colder season?

Bedroom Lace

Who doesn’t love a little lace in the bedroom? No matter if you’re married, in a relationship, or single, dress sexy for yourself. Dressing sexy for yourself also means having fun with lingerie. When you’re over a size 14, sometimes finding sexy lingerie can be a battle, as with clothes, some brands think by just making it bigger it will look flattering on a bigger girl. Wrong.

I’m grateful for brands like Seven ‘Till Midnight, who do plus size lingerie right, giving us sexy, cute options that appeal to every kind of girl. From leather to lace, to animal prints or for the bride-to-be, there is a sexy option for every kind of girl you are or want to be, because the truth is, we’ve got curves and rolls and why not show them off!

Seven ‘Till Midnight is based in Los Angeles and focus on making women of all shapes and sizes feel bold and confident in their fun, flirty lingerie and costumes. I was sent a HOT bustier and adorable pink lace underwear/garter. I loved how sexy I felt in both the bustier and garter. I have a pair of fishnets that went with the garter perfectly, I love how sexy and powerful I felt in the lingerie. The bustier wasn’t too constricting, but still gave me support up top. I love mixing textures, so the lace and leather-looking latex was a natural match, just the right amount of edginess without being cheesy. The garter was high waisted, which I loved, It made the look  vintage. I may have liked it a little more than the bustier, but I love how the bustier held me in and made me look extra curvy.

One of the things I really like about Seven ‘Till Midnight is there  cute, sexy and playful options for plus size girls. I know when it comes to fashion, we sometimes don’t have many options, but it was tough to choose just one bustier from Seven ‘Till Midnight!

Life is too short to not have a little fun in lingerie, trust me, it’s super empowering.

’90s Plus Size Fashion

It’s nothing new that ’90s fashion is back and in a huge way. From edgy grunge style to the flower power prints, the ’90s we’re a fun time. I’m a total ’90s kid and I’m having a lot of fun with the trend. I’m embracing my inner grunge with having fun with florals, I’m not sure if I’m ready for the overalls trend, but I love a good plaid shirt and beanie.

Happy Shopping! xx

Red, Gold and Blue

I wore this look for the 4th of July, but after putting it together, I quickly realized I might be wearing it all summer. I’ve never been much of a ‘wear the American flag’ kind of girl. When it comes to fashion, I try to incorporate my patriotism in other ways, like working with the red, white and blue palette. I bought this dress from Forever 21 because I’ve been searching for a cute denim shirt dress and this collared polka dot one had my name all over it. I’ve already worn it on a date and to two summer BBQ’s. A denim shirt dress is worth adding to your closet because it offeres a lot of versatility. I can add some textured tight, boots, a leather jacket and it’s ready for fall.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve noticed how much I’ve been using this Vieta bag since Coachella back in April. I carry a lot of stuff in my handbags, so a larger one has always been a no brainer for myself. The reason this has been my everyday bag is because not only does it carry everything I need with ease, but I love the orange color. It’s been the perfect color for spring and summer. Although I never saw myself to be a orange handbag kind of girl, the color quickly grew on me, I stepped out of my handbag confort zone and I came out loving a new color.

I’ve also been actively trying to add more bracelets to my jewelry ensemble. I’ve always worn earrings and necklace on a constant basis, but having chubby fingers and thick wrists have lead to not too many bracelets and rings. Thanks to Torrid, who cater to not only plus size clothing, but also jewelry, I have added some pretty rad bracelets to my arm swag.

Lessons for today, step out of your fashion comfort zone and you can never wear too much gold. ❤

Mix & Match

Mixing prints can be a fashion challenge, but when executed well, can make a killer outfit.  My best advice, if you’re thinking about stepping out of your fashion comfort zone, is to start off with mixing up the classics, (like I did) enter polka dots and stripes. I added an acid wash denim jacket from Torrid to complete my textured look. From that point, mix and match to your hearts content, but don’t get too carried away, you don’t want to look like you got dressed in the dark.

There’s a list of staple items every girl, skinny or plus-size should have in her closet, the LBD, a blazer and one of my favorites, a denim jacket. Denim jackets can be worn through out the year, summer or fall and go great with an array of looks, from a sexy LBD, to high waisted shorts. I’ve worn this acid wash one from Torrid with denim skinny jeans, to these polka shorts, to an LBD–it gives my look this extra funky cool edge that I don’t mind.

Galaxy Alley

There is nothing like a good pair of printed leggings to amp up a wardrobe. Forget whatever rule you’ve heard about plus-size women encouraged not to wear bold prints, it’s complete nonsense.

I’m obsessed with my Torrid galaxy leggings, they’re comfortable and give my look the right amount of texture or should I say, space. 😉 They’re from Los Angeles brand, See You Monday and their sold exclusively to Torrid online. There’s a grey version too! And in case you hadn’t noticed, the galaxy and space print is everywhere right now, with tons of  brands like Romwe, ASOS, Rag&Bone and Sparkle & Fade (Urban Outfitters) coming out with galaxy dresses, pants and tops. After falling in love with these leggings, I wouldn’t mind a galaxy dress.

What are your thoughts on the galaxy trend? Would you rock a space print?

These studded boots became mine just before Coachella, where they made their debut, and I wear them all the time. I love the studded detail and the tiny, but perfect heel. They look perfect with everything and add a hint of edge to any femminine outfits. A girl needs a pair of studded boots in her closet. So, if you don’t have a pair, these ones are on sale right now. You’re welcome 🙂

Urban 1972 + Im Curvy

Last week I was invited to Urban 1972’s headquarters to preview their new summer collection and play dress-up with some of my favorite blogger babes like Marla from Marlita on the Run and Emily from Emmy J. I was a little nervous about going to the event in fear  they may not have anything in my size. When I arrived I was blown away to find that Urban 1972 had just launched their plus size brand IM Curvy.

Guess who was the first blogger to give the line a spin? 🙂 I was in love with the leggings you see the the photos, and like all leggings, they were super comfy. I’m a huge fan of textured tights and leggings and I did not want to take these off! The dress was also my favorite. It was comfortable and perfect for a night out with the girls or maybe even a Birthday. I love the mini turtle neck and I adore the double slits.

The following day, I clicked over to the newly launched Im Curvy site and was elated to see an array of current trends in the online store, ranging from a 1X to 3X. As a curvy girl, sometimes, I feel I’m not able to enjoy trends as much as regular sized woman because things simply don’t come in my size or doesn’t fit my body right. I was stoked to see trends such as cutout dresses, comic tees and crop tops, all in larger sizes.

Don’t be afraid to push the “standard” limits of what’s expected of plus size women, don’t be afraid to push your limits. Do what feels right and what you’re comfortable with and know that style has no size.
